Hello Everyone and welcome to Week four of Term 2.  It is hard to believe that June is upon us already!  This weeks homework has been updated onto the home work page.  Have a great week.

We are well into our new theme learning about ANZAC Day.  We have started to build our knowledge about the first ANZAC Day:  What happened?  Why it happened?  What affect did this have on the soldiers who fought there?  As we have looked through the information about the Gallipoli Campaign we have come up with a lot of questions.  We will be inquiring into these questions, not only to find out what happened but how they impacted on life for the soldiers as well as life back in New Zealand.

As part of this unit we will be creating our own class wall of remembrance.    I am asking the students to go home and ask if they have any relatives that have fought in any wars that New Zealand has contributed to.  It would be great if we could find out information about our relatives who fought or played any part in any conflict, including any family members currently serving within the armed forces.  Any artefacts, or photos that could be brought to school would be great to share.

Week Three's homework on the Homework page!

OPS vs Auroa

The Yr 5/6 Rugby and Netball Teams had our first inter-school games against Auroa.  Although the games were tough we gave it our best.  We may have been knocked down but we will get up and give our best for our next game!

Whats happening in Room 14?

I wonder..........
Kitchen Garden

Room 14 had another amazing morning at 'Kitchen Garden.'  Although the weather was cold and raining so we couldn't get outside into the garden we made Cauliflower (from the garden) Soup and Pumpkin Muffins.  Hot soup and muffins were just what wee needed on a cold South Taranaki winters day, Yum!  Thanks Mrs Sinclair and Mrs Mourie for another great morning at 'Kitchen Garden!'

OPS Senior Trip

The four class senior rooms went on a Field Trip on Friday the 9th of May.  We had a great time exploring Puki Ariki in New Plymouth.  Take a look at our video, we had a lot of fun and learnt a lot!

Term 2

This term has started with a hiss and a roar.  We had an amazing day on Monday with dressing up in olden days clothes.  We had ladies and gentlemen from the past and brightly clothed beach dude from the 1980's.  We had a great afternoon playing games from the past...

Kitchen Garden

Apologies for the short notice but it is our turn for 'Kitchen Garden' next week on Wednesday.  This is short notice because we have our trip to Puke Ariki this Friday, the Teachers trip to Auckland next Monday and Tuesday and then Kitchen Garden on the Wednesday.  Please remember to send along $1 and wear old clothes on the day.

Thanks a lot, Andrew.
