One of the activities in our weekly spelling contract is to use the web site tagexdo.com to create these word images of our weekly spelling words. Learning our spelling words has never been so much fun!
Sharna has been away on holiday to America over the last 2 weeks. She sent us this picture showing us some of her adventures. We can't wait for her to come back and share her experiences!
At the start of this term we started learning out World War 1 and the 100 year anniversary of the landing of the ANZAC's at Gallipoli. We have completed a lot of research, written Haiku Tunnel Books and Simile Window Dioramas and well as producing some amazing Poppy Art. Make sure you come into Room 14 and take a look at some of our amazing work.
At the start of the year we drew these Awesome Cartoon faces. We followed directions from the 'Art Projects for Kids' (link) website. Check out our great work...
We have been reading 'No Safe Harbour' by Taranaki author David Hill. It is a story of Stuart and Sandra, 15 year old twin brother and sister and their survival of the Wahine Disaster on the 10th of April 1968. This has inspired us to look deeper into the events of April the 10th 1968. We are completing research mini studies, writing newspaper articles, using the green screen to take photos of us there on the day. We are even writing and presenting newspaper articles using 'Lifecards' as well writing and filming TV news bulletins as if we were there on the scene reporting the news. Keep checking back to see how we got on.
We have also been using the APP 'Lifecards' to make these newspaper front pages. This is Jazlins, more will follow...
Congratulations to Lia and Jonathan who came first and second respectively in our holiday competiton. Well done, it looks like you both had a geat time during the break.
As part of the 'MOA' Awards we have been learning about photography and have been taking photos of unusual things around our school, 'CLOSE UP.' These are things that we pass everyday and normally don't think about, but if you stop and look, it is amazing what you might see...
